Textured Quilt Covers

Think about the bedrooms you've loved in hotels or design magazines. Chances are the colours were quiet, yet the bed still looked interesting. The secret is usually texture. A textured quilt cover adds shadow, movement and softness through the weave itself, so you get a layered, finished look without loud pattern. It's one of the easiest ways to make a room feel styled and still calm enough to rest in.

Jacquard Weaves With Raised Detail

Jacquard is woven on a special loom that lifts individual threads to build the pattern into the fabric, rather than printing it on top. The result is a design you can feel under your fingertips, with a subtle play of light and shadow across the bed. Our jacquard covers include botanical, floral, damask and geometric designs, plus woven stripes with a relaxed coastal feel.

Depending on the design, the front is woven from 100% cotton, a cotton blend or polyester, and most are backed with cotton or a cotton blend for comfort against the skin. Soft neutrals such as cream, silver grey and sage keep the pattern understated, while charcoal and black versions make a bolder statement.

Bouclé, Seersucker and Waffle

Bouclé is made from looped yarns that give the surface a plush, nubbly feel, and it looks particularly good in natural, charcoal and soft green tones. Seersucker is the opposite in mood. Its lightly puckered, rippled finish feels breezy and relaxed, and the texture helps disguise creases, so the bed looks fine even when it hasn't been ironed.

Waffle weaves form small square pockets across the fabric, giving a cover depth and a slightly airy handfeel. Our chunky waffle and cotton waffle designs suit coastal and Scandi bedrooms, especially in white, where the shadows in the weave do all the decorating for you.

Choosing a Textured Quilt Cover Set

Start with the mood you want. Bouclé and velvet corduroy feel warm and cosy for the cooler months, while seersucker, waffle and cotton weaves feel lighter for spring and summer. Jacquard sits in the middle and works all year round, which makes it a smart choice if you only want one textured quilt cover set in rotation.

Then check the size. Most designs come in queen, king and super king, many also come in double, and a handful are made in single. Covers follow the standard Australian sizes, from 210 x 210 cm for queen to 270 x 240 cm for super king, and sets come with a pair of standard pillowcases, or just one in the single size.

Styling a Bed Full of Texture

Let the quilt cover lead and keep the rest of the bed simple. Smooth cotton sheets underneath make the texture on top stand out, and a tonal palette of white, oat, grey or sage stops the bed from feeling busy. If you love colour, pick it up in one place, such as a cushion or a throw, rather than everywhere.

For a hotel-style finish, add a pair of European pillowcases at the back and a filled cushion in front. Many of our textured designs have matching European pillowcases and cushions sold separately, which makes it easy to build a bed that looks pulled together from every angle.
