Tips for Styling Your Bed: Build a Simple, Useful Arrangement

Start with the correct dimensions

Match the fitted sheet to the mattress footprint and complete height. A protector or topper changes the depth you need. Compare the selected product’s specification rather than stretching a shallow sheet over the corners.

Match the quilt cover to the insert’s actual centimetre dimensions. If you want a more generous quilt drop, consider the insert and cover together; sizing up the cover alone leaves an ill-fitting interior.

Choose a visual hierarchy

1. Use the quilt cover as the main colour or pattern. Keep sheets quieter if the cover is busy.
2. Stand or lay sleeping pillows comfortably at the head. Add decorative cushions only if you want to move them each night.
3. Fold a throw across the foot or one corner to introduce a different texture.
4. Step back and remove anything that hides the main design or makes the bed cumbersome to use.

Make the styling repeatable
