We know how important it is to have a good night’s sleep, along with good nutrition and exercise, sleep is one of the pillars of great health .

But if you’re tossing and turning every night it might be time to take time out and refresh your bedroom.

Tiny changes to your room, such as adding silk pillowcases, removing electronics, or updating your mattress can have a big effect on your night time routine and help you to wake revived and refreshed the next day.

Here are some simple changes you can make to sleep easily overnight:

1.         Take the temperature down

You should have a quiet, dark room with comfortable bedding and good temperature control.  As a naturally occurring fibre, not only is silk smooth and luxurious to touch, it’s cool and can help you to better regulate your body temperature.

2.         Create a buffer zone and relax before going to bed

Have a buffer zone before bed and use visual cues to tell your body it’s time to sleep. Pay attention to your bedroom, pillow and sheets, how does it make you feel?

Consider your choice of fabrics and colours, how can you feel more relaxed?  Simple changes to your pillow cases can be a great and affordable way to calm your body and mind.

3.         Put the smartphone down

Try to avoid using your computer or other electronic screens within one hour of bedtime. Exercise is fine, but not too late in the evening. Find a relaxation technique that works for you and practise it regularly, during your wind down period.  There’s a reason why our pillow cases don’t have pockets!

4.         Rest easy knowing you’ll look great the next day.

By making a tiny change such as new silk pillowcases, not only feel great but you’ll look great as well.

Silk is a 100% naturally occurring fibre that is known for durability , and it’s also hypoallergenic, so your skin will breathe easily. Silk pillows are known for their smooth surface, can help reduce friction on your hair which often causes damage and split ends – so you’ll enjoy your sleep more, reduce ‘bed hair’, and save time the next day.
