Check the available width and length, door clearance and where the mat will sit. Use the exact dimensions on the selected product page rather than assuming every bath mat or runner has a standard size.

A mat can suit a smaller landing area; a runner offers a longer format. The current Charcoal mat is listed at approximately 50 × 80 cm, while the Charcoal runner is approximately 50 × 150 cm. Those are product examples, not universal dimensions for each type.

Compare the measurements with your room layout and keep the mat positioned without curled or overlapping edges.

Read the composition, then choose the feel

Cotton, synthetic fibres and blends can offer different surface textures and care requirements. Compare the actual composition and finish. A colour called “Linen” does not establish that the fabric contains linen fibre.

The featured Charcoal mat and runner are listed with cotton pile. Check each current listing for the complete product details. A material name alone does not establish a tested quick-dry, antibacterial or environmental claim.

Think about the texture you enjoy underfoot and the weight you are comfortable washing and drying. Read any product-specific absorbency or drying information alongside the care label.

Check the backing and intended use

Look for the backing construction described on the product page and follow the manufacturer’s placement instructions. A mat described as having grip or non-slip backing does not guarantee slip prevention on every surface.

Use a floor mat only where intended. It is different from an in-bath or shower mat designed for use inside a wet bathing area. Check the mat, backing and floor regularly and follow the product’s care and use directions.

Choose care that works in your home

1. Read the label before washing or drying.
2. Check permitted temperature, cycle and whether tumble drying is allowed.
3. Allow the mat and the area beneath it to dry as directed.
4. Inspect backing and edges for wear or damage.
5. Return it to use only when appropriately dry and positioned.

Do not assume every mat is machine washable or that high heat is safe for a backed product. The care routine matters as much as the colour you choose.
