A king bed gives you room to spread out, and our king bed sheets are made to cover it properly. Go for a coordinated set or simply the fitted sheet, with fabrics spanning 400 thread count sateen, 600 thread count Australian cotton, heavier 1000 thread count cotton and soft jersey, with 50 cm extra-depth walls for taller mattresses.
Plenty of couples upgrade to a king for one reason: space. Nobody steals the covers, there's room for a child who wanders in at dawn, and the bed becomes the place to read, rest and recharge. With that much surface on show, king bed sheets do a lot of visual work in the bedroom, so the fit, fabric and colour all matter more than they might on a smaller bed.
A standard Australian king mattress is roughly 183 x 203 cm, and our king size bed sheets are cut to suit, with some fitted sheets running slightly larger at 185 x 205 cm. The usual wall is 40 cm, deep enough to grip most regular mattresses firmly from below.
Taller beds need more. Our king extra-depth fitted sheets have a 50 cm wall, including the 1000 thread count Soho fitted sheet at 185 x 205 cm and a 400 thread count option. Measure your mattress with any topper in place, and if it comes close to 40 cm, the deeper wall is the safer choice.
A king bed sheets set combines the fitted and flat sheets with two matching pillowcases. Buying the pieces together means the colour and finish line up exactly across the bed, which really shows on a king where there's so much fabric in view.
If you'd rather sleep under just a quilt, or want a fresh bottom sheet between full changes, choose a king fitted sheet on its own. It's also an easy way to mix colours, for example a charcoal fitted sheet under a white flat sheet and quilt cover.
Our 400 thread count sheets are 100% cotton sateen, and the weave gives them a glossy face that feels cool as you slide in. Move up to 600 thread count for 100% Australian cotton with a refined finish, plus broad elastic so fitting the bottom sheet takes less effort.
For that hotel look, our 1000 thread count king sets are heavier and more substantial, with embroidered or tailored bordered finishes that look sharp folded back over the quilt cover. Jersey fitted sheets offer a completely different feel, with a soft, stretchy knit that suits relaxed, casual bedrooms.
On a king bed, colour has a big impact. White and ivory keep a large bed feeling light and open, while charcoal, black and grey give it a grounded, tailored look. Softer shades such as duck egg, pink and linen bring warmth without overpowering the room.
Build height at the bedhead with king pillowcases at the back, standard pillowcases in front and a cushion or two to finish. Repeating the sheet colour in one of those layers ties the bed together and makes even a simple set of king bed sheets look carefully styled.
Orders are sent with Australia Post, and anything above $99 ships at no charge. Want to see the colours and fabrics before you decide? Head to one of our Melbourne stores.
